Images, Half-truths and Reality

One of my observations is that most of the people I encounter have a tendency to block out too much of the information in their environment. Although we are often bombarded by stimuli, we can miss out on what is important if we shut out everything.

For example, why is it that so many people miss instructions on loudspeakers at airports about their flights? Is it because those individuals switch off their minds to the outside world and live somewhere the rest of us cannot reach? Is it, alternatively, because they leave the responsibility for dealing with the world to other people?
